Why two similar apps can cost very different amounts
The ranges are a starting point. What the final figure lands on comes down to a handful of specific things — and I put all of them in writing before we start, so nothing turns up unannounced on an invoice.
Screens and user roles
An app with a single kind of user is far simpler than one with a client portal, an operator view and an admin back end.
Third-party integrations
Payments, couriers, ERP, booking systems — each one brings its own documentation, test cases and failure modes.
Visual design
Working from an existing design system is quicker than designing every screen around a bespoke brand identity.
Data migration
Moving an existing customer, product and order history across without downtime is a separate, separately quoted stage.
Scale and performance targets
A site for a hundred users and a platform for tens of thousands mean different architecture, different hosting and a different budget.
Deadline
A standard schedule costs less than a rush build, which means moving other projects out of the way.
How billing works
A fixed price for an agreed scope. I do not bill projects on a "whatever it ends up being" basis.
Typically 30% to start, 40% once you sign off on the staging build, and 30% after it goes live.
An electronic invoice every time, on 14-day terms. No exclusivity clauses and no retainer you did not ask for.
Anything that breaks because of my code gets fixed free for a month after launch.
