Case study

01The problem

A catalogue of thousands of products across four language versions is, on WooCommerce, a straightforward recipe for a slow shop — the query count grows with every combination of language and variant. On top of that the traffic is uneven: a campaign or a launch can multiply the load within minutes.

02What I built

  • Aggressive caching of assets and catalogue pages so peak traffic does not reach the database on every visit.
  • Four language versions maintained as full catalogue variants rather than a translation overlay.
  • PayPo deferred payments wired into the standard cart flow.
  • Wishlists and a review module as the pieces that reduce abandoned carts.

03What it does now

  • The shop holds its response times during a campaign, not only at average traffic.
  • Four markets served from one installation.
  • Deferred payment available without taking the customer out of the cart.

04Why this stack

WooCommerce was the client's call here, and a sensible one — their team can run the catalogue themselves. The work went into making sure that convenience does not cost performance at peak.
